Fertility refers to a person’s ability to reproduce. A person who is infertile cannot conceive (make a baby). Both men and women can be infertile for a variety of both physical and emotional reasons, for example, a woman’s ovaries may have difficulty producing eggs, or a man may have a low sperm count. Women reach peak fertility in their early twenties, and generally begin to lose their ability to become pregnant after age 35.
