The gastrointestinal (GI), or digestive tract includes the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine (colon), rectum and anus. Common GI conditions include irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), intractable constipation, fecal incontinence, acute diarrhea, gallbladder disease, and liver disease. IBS and intractable constipation are more common in women than in men.
