The Society for Women’s Health Research Marks 25 Years of

Transforming Women’s Health

The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR®), the thought-leader in promoting research on sex and gender differences in disease, will celebrate its 25th Anniversary Gala Dinner on Wednesday, March 25, at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel, Washington D.C.

Judy Woodruff, Co-Anchor & Managing Editor of the PBS NewsHour with Gwen Ifill and Judy Woodruff will be the Master of Ceremonies. Key members of Congress; distinguished researchers and clinicians; leading advocacy groups; disease awareness organizations; and professional, scientific and medical associations will gather together to celebrate this milestone.

SWHR will present awards to Dr. Francis S. Collins, Director of the National Institutes of Health, who will be receive the Pioneering Biomedical Research Award; Members of Congress including Rep. Lois Capps, Sen. Susan Collins, Rep. Rosa DeLauro, Rep. Nita Lowey, Sen. Barbara Mikulski, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Rep. Cathy McMorris Rodgers, Rep. Louise Slaughter, Sen. Debbie Stabenow will be awarded with the Women’s Health Research Legacy Award for their long-standing support and commitment to women’s health research; and former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton who will receive the SWHR Dr. Estelle Ramey Award for Women’s Health Leadership, which she will accept via video.

For a quarter-century, SWHR has worked to improve the health of all women through science, education, and advocacy. “I am proud of the impact SWHR has had, and will have, in making a difference in the lives of women, and the vital role we have played in bringing women’s health issues to the forefront, “said SWHR President and CEO Phyllis Greenberger, MSW.

All event proceeds will benefit SWHR’s science, advocacy and educational programs, which ensure that women’s health remains a national priority.
