SUMMARY:Women’s Health: From Cells to Society (NAM Annual Meeting)
DESCRIPTION:As part of the 2023 Annual Meeting\, the NAM will host a scientific symposium titled\, “Women’s Health: From Cells to Society” on October 9\, 2023. The event will be held both virtually and in person at the National Academy of Sciences Building in Washington\, DC. \nIn addition\, NAM Members will be hosting Interest Group sessions on the first day of the meeting Sunday\, October 8. Interest groups bring together NAM members from a variety of disciplines to engage and convene on the most current topics affecting science\, medicine\, technology\, and health. More information about the Interest Group Meetings can be found here. (UPDATE LINK) \nIn order to support this event\, there will be a registration fee for non-NAM Members associated with the symposium. This payment will secure interested parties virtual access to the Interest Group meetings on October 8\, the presentation of all 2023 NAM awards on October 8\, and the entirety of the scientific symposium on October 9\, either virtually ($50) or in person ($150). Payment will allow attendees access to submit comments and questions live throughout the event. There is also an option to attend only the President’s Forum and Reception in person ($50). \nRecordings of the scientific symposium will be released for free in the weeks after the event has concluded. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER

DESCRIPTION:The COVID-19 pandemic has disproportionately affected BIPOC women\, with higher rates of infection\, hospitalization\, and death\, which can contribute to mental health problems during and after pregnancy. \nIn addition to mental health professionals\, policymakers\, medical providers\, doulas\, the valuable voices of consumers\, community organizers\, advocates and religious leaders are necessary in order to encourage collaboration and innovation towards the development of new methods of support for new mothers. Latinx\, Asian\, African-American\, LGBTQIA\, Native\, Hmong and various other speakers have been invited to share their perspectives on the importance of culturally responsive care and services. You are invited to submit a proposal to present. \nThis special event will offer interactive\, community-centered opportunities to engage in the field of maternal mental health\, diversity and culture. DESCRIPTION:Marce of North America (MONA) will present its biannual conference this year in a hybrid format. The conference will be entitled\, Marce of North America 2023 Conference: Emerging from the Pandemic: Equity and Innovation in Perinatal Mental Health. The live portion of the conference will take place at the Westin Alexandria in Alexandria Virginia on Thursday\, October 26th– Saturday\, October 28th. On Wednesday\, October 25th we will host a Pre-Conference Workshop with 10 workshops allowing for targeted learning. \nThe prevalence of perinatal mental illness onset and exacerbation for parents is a major public health problem. This activity will specifically address inconsistencies in research\, advocacy\, education\, and clinical practice for screening\, diagnosis\, and management of mood\, anxiety\, and other mental disorders in patients and families during pregnancy\, postpartum\, and lactation.The goal is to ensure that health care providers acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for optimal delivery of care as well as advancement of research\, medical education\, and policy development for parental mental health during the perinatal period. \nThis CME program is designed to meet the educational needs of healthcare providers who manage patients with perinatal mental health conditions. \nREGISTER
