SUMMARY:NIH Director’s Seminar Series: Asthma and Pregnancy
DESCRIPTION:Adverse Outcomes and Susceptibility to Air Pollution\n  \nThe NIH Director’s Lecture Series features outstanding late tenure-track or recently tenured investigators whose work is of broad interest at NIH. Speakers are approved by the NIH Director\, and talks are held monthly. \nThis lecture features Pauline Mendola from the Epidemiology Branch of the NICHD’s Division of Intramural Population Health Research. She will discuss her research on air pollution and its effects on pregnancy\, including the link to asthma and other adverse outcomes for pregnant women and infants. \n  \nFor the complete Series schedule\, visit https://www.nih.gov/about-nih/who-we-are/nih-director/directors-seminar-series. \nWatch Videocast Here

SUMMARY:Identifying Knowledge Gaps in Chronic Osteoarthritis Pain in Women
DESCRIPTION:Chronic pain disproportionately affects women\, and substantial research demonstrates that differences exist between women and men in pain perception\, management\, and treatment. SWHR will convene a diverse group of interdisciplinary researchers and clinicians for a closed-door roundtable meeting on osteoarthritic pain in women and how underlying biological responses to pain in women may lead to functional decline in the context of work\, home\, social\, and personal life. The goal of the panel is to identify unmet needs and knowledge gaps in understanding the relationship between pain and function in women with osteoarthritis\, and to explore the best means to use scientific evidence to improve comprehensive\, function-based pain management for those with osteoarthritis.

SUMMARY:Webinar: Patient Organizations as Research and Data Partners
DESCRIPTION:Clinical innovation is rapidly becoming more patient-centric and data-rich. An explosion of data has opened new opportunities to capture a fuller patient experience. In this webinar\, FasterCures will share some of the findings from its recent “Acceleration Lab\,” which sought to identify effective ways for research organizations of all types\, including research data networks\, to partner with patient organizations that can bring patients’ perspective\, participation\, and data to the table. You will also hear from practitioners partnering effectively around patient-generated heath data about the promise and challenges. \nRegister \nSpeakers\nKristin Schneeman\, Director\, FasterCures\nValerie Barton\, Senior Advisor\, FasterCures\nSeth Ginsberg\, Co-Founder and Chairman\, Global Healthy Living Foundation\nMichael Hund\, CEO\, EB Research Partnership\nTodd Sherer\, CEO\, The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research\nPlease register\, and share with colleagues who may be interested in this critically important topic.
