SUMMARY:Closing the women's health gap: The $1 trillion opportunity
DESCRIPTION:As you may have seen in The Guardian\, Fortune\, and Forbes\, the McKinsey Health Institute’s latest report in collaboration with the World Economic Forum\, Closing the women’s health gap: A $1 trillion opportunity to improve lives and economies\, has sized the health and economic returns of investing in women’s health. Even though women live longer on average\, they also spend 25% more time in poor health than men\, and most of this health burden happens during their working years. McKinsey found a $1 trillion economic opportunity that\, if harnessed\, could unlock up to 75 million years of higher quality life for women (or 7 days annually per woman on average) from closing this health gap. \nLeading up to International Women’s Day\, the hosts look forward to a rich discussion that will touch on: \n\nFindings from our recent report highlighting the root causes of the women’s health gap\, and how to address it\nMyths\, challenges\, and opportunities in women’s health\nActions stakeholders can take to accelerate progress and innovation to help close the gap\n\nPanelists bring a wealth of cross-industry perspectives on this topic – \n\nDavid Walcott\, Founder and Managing Partner at Novamed\nJennifer Schneiders\, President of Diagnostic Solutions at Hologic\nJuan Camilo Arjona Ferreira\, Head of Research & Development\, Chief Medical Officer at Organon\nNigina Muntean\, Chief of Innovation at the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)\nSahil Tesfu\, Chief Strategy Officer at Essity\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nREGISTER

SUMMARY:Specificity of changes and importance of maternal well-being during pregnancy
DESCRIPTION:Pregnancy is accompanied by important physiological and affective changes due to strong hormonal surges. Among other things\, pregnancy induces lasting changes in the mother’s brain structure and function; in particular\, women lose grey matter. These important changes in the brain\, which begin during pregnancy and persist for at least two years after delivery\, are said to prepare the mother for the demands of caring for her baby. However\, since these changes occur in the regions involved in social interactions\, such as the perception and interpretation of the desires\, emotions\, intentions and moods of others or oneself\, according to scientific research\, these unique alterations can also affect fetal development. Children born to women who report perinatal anxiety (stress) or mood difficulties are twice as likely to experience mental health problems across childhood and into adolescence. Thus\, how can it be explained that so little attention is paid to the specific mental health needs of women during pregnancy? The presentation will explore the specificity of biological changes occurring during pregnancy that can critically impact maternal and fetal well-being and development and provide a rationale for why perinatal mental health should be viewed as a public health priority. \n\nREGISTER
