SUMMARY:Work-Life-Health Balance through Menopause: A Watercooler Conversation
DESCRIPTION:Click the image above or click here to watch the recording \nMenopause is a universal life stage for women that impacts their personal and professional lives and has far-reaching economic\, social\, and health care implications for society. Approximately 6\,000 women in the United States reach menopause every day\, often with symptoms that range from hot flashes and genitourinary symptoms to brain fog and sleep disturbances. Despite the vast number of women experiencing life disruptions during the menopause transition\, accessible treatment options and guidance for navigating their care are limited. Further\, with women aged 45-54 years having a 75% participation rate in the U.S. labor workforce\, managing menopause while at work is also a key part of the transition. The cost of lost productivity associated with menopause symptoms amounts to around $1.8 billion annually. Therefore\, it is important for employers to understand women’s health experiences\, especially during menopause\, to maintain a workplace environment that is productive\, supportive\, and effective. Organizational policies that promote midlife health and wellness and support intergenerational employment are key to enabling work-life-health balance for all employees. \nSWHR hosted a public forum to discuss the impact of menopause on women’s health\, the workplace challenges that women experience during menopause\, and strategies for navigating care for their symptoms. \nThis is an SWHR Event.
