SUMMARY:WOMEN'S HEALTH SEMINAR SERIES 2022/2023
DESCRIPTION:The Women’s Health Seminar Series will feature multidisciplinary research on women’s health. The goal of the series is to provide multidisciplinary training and mentorship for attendees including students across a broad range of women’s health research topics. Speakers will present their research regarding the biological\, psychological\, behavioural\, economic and social factors in women’s health and their effects on women’s health outcomes. Each seminar will feature 45 minutes talks followed by an interactive question and answer period. \nThe series is open to everyone that is interested in learning more about women’s health. The hosts encourage all interested faculty\, clinicians\, community members and trainees to register for a talk or check out past seminars on YouTube. All the seminars will be held virtually on Mondays from 12:00pm – 1:00pm (PST) unless otherwise indicated. \nNote: Attendees who attend at least 90% of the series seminars will be awarded a Certificate of Completion at the end of the series. SUMMARY:The IMPROVE Awardee Workshop
DESCRIPTION:In Fiscal Years (FY) 2020 and 2021\, NIH awarded over $20 million to support 58 projects through the Implementing a Maternal health and PRegnancy Outcomes Vision for Everyone (IMPROVE) initiative to rapidly improve understanding of and mitigation strategies for the leading causes of pregnancy-related and pregnancy-associated morbidity\, from pregnancy through up to one year postpartum. \nThe IMPROVE Awardee Workshop brings together researchers and clinicians supported by NIH IMPROVE funding in FY2020 and FY2021 to share their work and progress to date. Workshop participants will: \n\nShare research results and lessons learned from their IMPROVE projects\nIdentify common themes and highlight shared research gaps and opportunities that can complement ongoing disease-specific work across NIH and collaborating organizations\nFurther define the needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals to reduce preventable causes of morbidity and mortality\n\nREGISTER

SUMMARY:The Role of Federal Agencies in Supporting Women with Autoimmune Diseases and Conditions
DESCRIPTION:According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services\, autoimmune diseases—a group of more than 80 chronic diseases that develop when the immune system mistakenly attacks the body’s own healthy organs\, tissues\, and cells—are a leading cause of death and disability\, and their treatment costs are estimated to be greater than $100 billion annually.
