SUMMARY:Societal Influences' Impact on Cardiovascular Disease in Women
DESCRIPTION:Social determinants of health (SDOH)\, the conditions where people “are born\, live\, learn\, work\, play\, worship\, and age\,” can play a role in an individual’s cardiovascular health and heart healthy behaviors. While health care providers are urged to take a patient-centered\, tailored approach to care\, non-traditional risk factors\, such as a patient’s lifestyle and environment\, should also be considered. During this webinar\, speakers discuss how SDOH and other factors\, such as gender\, race\, and stigma\, might affect an individual’s access to cardiovascular disease screening and diagnosis as well as how patients can empower themselves to take charge of their heart health early.

SUMMARY:What to Know About Maternal Vaccines This Respiratory Season
DESCRIPTION:For pregnant people\, maternal vaccines are critical to prenatal care and help protect infants during their first few months of life when newborns are vulnerable to infectious respiratory diseases. As we approach the 2024-2025 respiratory illness season\, four vaccines are available to help protect infants\, including newly available prevention options. Yet\, despite the important role of vaccines during pregnancy\, rates of maternal vaccine uptake remain suboptimal. \nJoin Champions for Vaccine Education\, Equity and Progress (CVEEP) for a conversation on current maternal vaccine guidance\, including the maternal RSV vaccine\, and potential solutions to address barriers that can impact access to recommended vaccines. The discussion will feature provider perspectives across the healthcare continuum and address what individuals and organizations can do to help promote maternal vaccination. \nPanelists include: \n\nPragna Patel\, MD\, MPH\, Chief Medical Officer\, Coronavirus and Other Respiratory Viruses Division\, National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases\, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)\nHaywood Brown\, MD\, Senior Associate Vice President of Academic and Faculty Affairs\, University of South Florida (USF) Health; Vice Dean of Faculty Affairs\, Morsani College of Medicine; Former President\, American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG)\nMichelle Fiscus\, MD\, Chief Medical Officer\, Association of Immunization Managers (AIM)\nAllison Hill\, PharmD\, RPh\, Director\, Practice Implementation & Professional Affairs\, American Pharmacists Association (APhA)\n\nThe discussion will be moderated by Beth Battaglino\, RN-C\, CEO of HealthyWomen\, and a convener of CVEEP. \nLearn More

SUMMARY:NIH Women’s Health Roundtable: Endometriosis
DESCRIPTION:Beyond the Lesion: Charting New Paths is the second event of NIH Women’s Health Roundtable Series\, which focuses on important women’s health topics\, such as endometriosis\, as part of the White House Women’s Health Research Initiative. This series was developed as a recommended action in response to the Presidential Memorandum to bring attention to priority topics within the Department of Health and Human Services and to disseminate information on federally supported research areas. For more information about the series\, visit the NIH Women’s Health Roundtable Series page. \nThis roundtable is co-hosted by the NIH Office of Research on Women’s Health and the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. The goal of the endometriosis roundtable is to bring together diverse stakeholders\, including researchers\, clinicians\, and community members to foster collaborative discussions and share insights on the latest developments in endometriosis research\, diagnosis\, and treatment. SUMMARY:Empowering Women Living with Obesity: A Review of the Insurance Landscape\, Resources\, and Helpful Information
DESCRIPTION:Click the image or click here to watch the recording \nLiving with obesity may affect women in several ways – from its impact on socioeconomic status to health to emotional well-being. They may experience challenges seeking medical care as well as bias and discrimination in society. During this webinar\, co-hosted by the Obesity Action Coalition\, the Society for Women’s Health Research\, and the STOP Obesity Alliance\, panelists engage in a conversation aimed at empowering women living with obesity in navigating their health. SUMMARY:Virtual Women's Equality Day - Celebrating Edith Nourse Rogers and her impact on the GI Bill\, Service Women\, and women Veterans Panel
DESCRIPTION:Join the Veterans Benefits Administration\, Veterans Health Administration\, the National Cemetery Administration and the Center for Women Veterans to recognize the many contributions of Edith Nourse Rogers. This event will highlight VA’s efforts to connect women Veterans with education benefits and opportunities\, especially the Edith Nourse STEM Scholarship of which women Veterans are less likely to apply for. \nIn photos with her fellow politicians\, she often appears as the only woman in the frame. Yet\, Edith Nourse Rogers never hesitated to speak up on the issues that mattered most to her. She dedicated much of her time in office to supporting Veterans and advocating for their welfare. She also fought with great success to elevate the status of women within the military. Rogers adopted the military motto “Fight hard\, fight fair\, and persevere” as her own and that mindset served her well as she navigated the male-dominated corridors of power during a trailblazing political career that spanned 35 years and 18 consecutive sessions of Congress. \nAfter World War I\, Rogers had seen the difficulties many Veterans experienced when they left the military. Her work on and support for the proposed GI Bill of Rights helped secure its passage in Congress. \nVA celebrates her name and work through the establishment of the Edith Nourse Rogers STEM Scholarship\, which provides an additional $30\,000 for specialized training to Veterans who have exhausted their educational benefits. Her decades of public service and dedication to improving the lives of Veterans remain her most inspiring legacy today. \nLearn More

SUMMARY:RADx® Tech ACT ENDO Challenge Informational Webinar
DESCRIPTION:The Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics Technology (RADx® Tech) Advancing Cures and Therapies and ending ENDOmetriosis diagnostic delays (ACT ENDO) Challenge will award $3.0 million in prizes to accelerate the development of innovative technologies for the diagnosis of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a chronic inflammatory condition characterized by the growth of uterine endometrium-like tissue outside the uterus; the often-debilitating condition affects approximately 1 in 10 reproductive-aged women worldwide. Novel approaches are urgently needed to identify those who are afflicted with the condition and to spur the development of new treatments and cures. Successful technologies developed in this Challenge will shorten the time to diagnosis\, eliminate the invasiveness of current techniques\, and/or improve accessibility\, safety\, convenience\, and costs of diagnosis. Examples of desired technologies include\, but are not limited to\, imaging technologies\, in vitro diagnostic devices\, clinical laboratory tests\, wearable devices\, smartphone-enabled diagnostic tools\, integrated sensing technologies\, and digital health platforms. \nLearn more about the challenge online here and during this webinar event. \nRegister Now
