SWHR Urges Congress to Include $46.1 Billion in Funding for the NIH

SWHR President and CEO Kathryn G. Schubert sent a letter to Congressional leadership on the House and Senate Appropriations Subcommittees on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies, in which she outlines SWHR’s appropriations priorities and funding recommendations for the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in the fiscal year 2022 (FY 2022).

In the letter, SWHR requests that Congress provides, at a minimum, at least $46.1 billion for the NIH, as well as $1.7 billion for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD). SWHR requests and specifies language related to uterine fibroids and the Office of Research on Women’s Health (ORWH) for inclusion in the accompanying report to the FY 2022 Labor-Health and Human Services-Education Appropriations Bill.
