Bria Fitz

Bria Fitz enhances SWHR’s Policy and Communications team by advancing policy priorities, identifying gaps and opportunities in women’s health for key thought leaders and decision makers, and engaging with policy programming. Fitz has a diverse background with experience researching topics such as maternal health, contraception access, LGBTQ+ health care, and education.
Before joining SWHR, Fitz worked at SIECUS: Sex Ed for Social Change, where she focused on improving sex education in U.S. public schools through state policy and federal funding. During her time at SIECUS, she monitored proposed bills related to education and reproductive health, supported advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill and through state partners, and devised a policy grading system ranking all 50 states & DC on their sex education policies.
Fitz is a recent alumna of The George Washington University, having graduated in May 2023 with her master’s degree in Public Policy and Women’s, Gender, & Sexuality Studies. Her capstone research project on sex education consisted of four types of policy documents and incorporated original data collected through an online survey, which reached over 100 people, and eight interviews. In addition to her graduate degree, Fitz holds a BA in English Literature with a minor in Women & Gender Studies from the University of Central Florida.
