SWHR joined more than 75 organizations in calling for strong funding for government public health and biomedical research agencies for fiscal year 2021. In a letter led by Research!America and sent to both Senate and House leadership, the groups emphasized the importance of agencies including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) and the National Science Foundation (NSF), in light of the global pandemic.

The letter urged efficient passage of a robust FY 2021 budget in addition to $26 billion in COVID-19 emergency spending for biomedical research and development needs.
