SWHR Co-Leads Sign-on Letter to House Appropriators Over Procedural Concern in FY25 Labor-HHS Bill

POLICY LETTER

Published 7/9/24

The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR), along with a few of its peer organizations, led a community sign-on letter to House appropriators in response to the House Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies (Labor-HHS) Appropriations Subcommittee’s fiscal year 2025 spending bill, which called for the consolidation of NIH’s 27 Institutes and Centers into 15. The letter, signed by 223 national organizations, expressed deep concerns over having a policy of such magnitude incorporated into an appropriations bill before having it move through a transparent process to gather input from a variety of stakeholders and thoroughly review NIH operations and portfolios.
