SWHR Submits Comments Re: Reforming NIH to Senate HELP Committee

The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) responded to a September 2023 request for information from Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee Ranking Member Bill Cassidy, MD, regarding “modernizing the National Institutes of Health.” In its response, SWHR recognized and affirmed NIH’s reputation as a preeminent research agency in the world and the importance of congressional investments in NIH, but raised considerations, including addressing women’s health across NIH, advancing equity and representation across all levels of research, and prioritizing basic research as part of the research continuum as well as some considerations related to NIH’s research structure.
