This week, SWHR President and CEO Kathryn G. Schubert submitted testimony for the record to the House Energy & Commerce Committee, Subcommittee on Health regarding the future of telehealth and the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In her testimony, Schubert outlined the disproportionate effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on women and explained how telehealth can reduce burden of care. Schubert calls on Congress and the federal government to maintain expanded access to telehealth services under Medicare after the end of the pandemic. She supports policy provisions that ensure equitable access to telehealth so that no community or patient is left behind during the expansion of telehealth. Finally, Schubert encourages Congress to consider telehealth as a model to expand the reach of government-funded research.
