Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths in women. There are an estimated 3.7 million women living with breast cancer in the United States.

Innovations in diagnostics and screenings can provide access to health information and can help women make informed decisions about their breast health and cancer risk.

In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) published the Value of Diagnostics within Women’s Health: Breast Cancer Fact Sheet to highlight the impact of breast cancer on women’s health and share information about the role of breast cancer screenings and tests – like a mammogram, digital breast tomosynthesis, or breast MRI – on health across the lifespan.
