SWHR Announces Dr. Shontelle Dodson as Board Chair

The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) is pleased to announce the election of Shontelle Dodson, PharmD, as the new Chair of its Board of Directors.

Dodson, who joined SWHR’s Board in 2015, is the Senior Vice President of Health Systems at Astellas Pharma Inc. and has extensive clinical and research experience in the health care and pharmaceutical industries. She has received multiple awards for leadership and innovation during her career, and has a passion for advancing the health and well-being of women. Dodson holds a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Mercer University College of Pharmacy and completed a postdoctoral residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I am thrilled to step into this role at a time when SWHR is celebrating 30 years of work in advancing women’s health research, and I look forward to leading the organization toward achieving its vision of making women’s health mainstream,” Dodson said.

Roberta Gartside, MD, who has been active with SWHR since its founding, is rotating out of the position of Board Chair after nearly three years and will continue as a member of the Executive Committee in her new role as Immediate Past Chair.

“Shontelle will be a great leader for the Board with her unique expertise and dedication to equity in medical research for women’s health issues,” Gartside said. “I am excited to support her while continuing my work with SWHR.”
