Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death for women in the United States, with one in five female deaths due to CVD each year.

Innovations in diagnostics and screenings can provide access to critical health information and can help women make informed decisions about their heart health.

In recognition of World Heart Day on September 29, the Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) published the Value of Diagnostics within Women’s Health: Cardiovascular Disease Fact Sheet to highlight the impact of CVD on women’s health and share information about the role of diagnostics – like blood tests, electrocardiogram, echocardiogram, or stress tests – on health across the lifespan.
