Olivia Milne

Communications Intern

As SWHR’s Communications Intern, Olivia Milne (she/her) works alongside the communications team, aiding with media relations, strategic messaging, and internal communications to ensure the organization’s public presence is consistent and impactful. Milne tracks SWHR’s online engagement, conducts in-depth research on the latest news in the women’s health and policy spheres, and brings creative new ideas for SWHR’s social media content. Milne believes that creative and cohesive communication strategies are the key to success for any organization and is passionate about continuing this effort at SWHR.

Prior to joining SWHR, Milne worked as a Marketing & Communications Account Management Intern at Emergence Creative, where she developed strong skills in strategic messaging and media relations for multiple nonprofit clients. As a part of her internship, Milne completed a comprehensive research project and communications campaign on menopause awareness. It was during this project that Milne witnessed firsthand how the lack of research on women’s medical care can impact lives, reinforcing her commitment to advancing women’s health care in her future career.

Milne is a senior at American University in Washington, D.C., studying Public Relations & Strategic Communications and Women & Gender Studies. Originally from Palo Alto, CA, Milne enjoys spending her free time exploring nature or at the beach. She also loves to hear favorite restaurant recommendations in the D.C. area, as she enjoys trying new types of cuisine. Milne is passionate about women’s rights and eager to make tangible change in the fight to advance women’s health care and gender justice.
