Workshop: Developing a Framework to Address Legal, Ethical, Regulatory, and Policy Issues for Research Specific to Pregnant and Lactating Persons

  • This event has passed.

March 23, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 4:00 pm EDT

Pregnant and lactating persons are frequently excluded from clinical research, and often have to make treatment decisions without an adequate understanding of the benefits and risks to themselves and their developing fetus or newborn baby. The Committee on Developing a Framework to Address Legal, Ethical, Regulatory, and Policy Issues for Research Specific to Pregnant and Lactating Persons will hold a public workshop on March 23 to discuss how institutions and organizations make risk-benefit decisions regarding the inclusion and exclusion of pregnant and lactating persons in clinical research, and the roles of liability, risk management, and trial insurance in those decisions. Speakers will also address existing compensation schemes for research-related injuries and potential to scale these models to serve the needs of research participants.

The event will be accessible via live webcast. Learn more on the event page.
