The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) is deeply concerned about significant cuts to Medicaid included in H.R.1, passed by the Senate this week. Women account for 62% of adult Medicaid enrollees, with 41% of all births covered by Medicaid. Steep reductions to the program threaten to undermine the health of American women, children, and families, and we strongly urge House members to carefully consider how the bill will directly the impact the nearly 12 million Americans who are projected to lose coverage and the inevitable strain this will place on hospital systems across the country providing critically important care.
