Julia DeLuca

Julia DeLuca (she/her) is a Communications Intern working at the Sociey for Women’s Health Research this Spring. In this role, she creates social media content, monitors the state of women’s health in the media, and assists with any other administrative tasks. She works closely with the Communication Director and the rest of the Policy and Communications team to contribute to SWHR’s strategic communication initiatives.

In Spring 2024, DeLuca graduated summa cum laude from the George Washington University. Majoring in Creative Writing and English, she developed a love for the written word and creative communication. She also worked as a writing consultant at GW’s writing center, conducting one-on-one sessions with undergraduate and graduate students to improve and develop their writing skills—an experience that furthered her passion for collaborative writing. Within her other major, Organizational Sciences, she analyzed strategy, development, and leadership practices in businesses and organizations. With one side of her education encouraging creativity, and the other emphasizing practicality, she became interested in dynamic ways of communicating through narrative, visuals, and research.

This last fall, DeLuca worked as a Public Affairs fellow at a PR agency in Washington, DC where she curated social media content and collaborated on strategic communication campaigns. While she enjoyed working with a variety of clients, she became most passionate about the clients working in the non-profit sector. This experience fueled her interest in advocacy and government-focused work to drive change.

Originally from a small town outside of Boston, DeLuca now lives in Washington, DC with her sister and two cats. She enjoys reading, running, and doing puzzles in her free time.
