2025 Science of Patient Engagement Symposium

  • This event has passed.

May 7, 2025 - May 8, 2025

Join the National Health Council (NHC) for the 2025 Science of Patient Engagement Symposium on May 7–8. The Symposium will return to the historic National Press Club in Washington, DC, to explore this year’s theme: Elevating Innovation in Medicine, MedTech, & AI.

Engaging with patients is key to the process of innovation in medicine, MedTech, and AI. Patients, their families, and their caregivers can provide unique insights at all stages of development for a new drug, treatment, or technology. By partnering with patients and integrating them as equal partners, researchers and product developers can integrate these insights into practical and innovative solutions to meet the needs of a wide array of patients.

The Symposium will examine the science of patient engagement from the perspectives of both patients and experts in medicine, MedTech, and AI. Some key sessions are:

  • Innovation in Access, Treatment, & Discovery
  • When MedTech and Patient Engagement Collide
  • Breakthrough Health AI case-studies in Chronic Disease Detection
  • Patient Empowerment Through Machine Learning and Large Language Models

The Science of Patient Engagement Symposium is a two-day meeting held annually to explore how patient engagement is evolving and contributing to science and medicine. It brings together leaders from patient organizations, non-profit groups, industry, academia, and government for a discussion of experiences, best practices, and the resulting impacts of engaging with patients to drive innovation.
