Helping Your Constituents Navigate Medicare: A Guide to Better Bone Health for Women
- This event has passed.
November 19, 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm EST
This event is for congressional district directors and caseworkers assisting with Medicare enrollment, aiming to inform them of the bone health resources available to their constituents.
More than 80% of the 10 million Americans living with osteoporosis are women. Despite being at the highest risk for this common bone disease, many women may not be aware of all the resources that exist to manage their bone health – especially as they age and become eligible for Medicare.
The Society for Women’s Health Research (SWHR) and HealthyWomen are aiming to close the awareness gap through the release of the resource Savvy and 65: A Woman’s Guide to Understanding Medicare.
During this invitation-only webinar meeting designed specifically for congressional district directors and caseworkers assisting with Medicare enrollment, SWHR and HealthyWomen walked colleagues through this newly-launched resource, which could be a helpful tool to their constituents as part of their Medicare journeys.
The free, easy-to-use Savvy and 65 guide includes important information about Medicare coverage, insurance interactions, caregiver considerations, and a dedicated chapter on items and services related to bone health that are covered under Medicare.
This webinar provides:
- A concise walkthrough of the guide
- Insights into its development
- A focused overview of how district directors can help disseminate the resource to their communities, particularly among older women
Goals
- Provide a clear understanding of what the guide offers
- Explain the significance of the bone health chapter and its utility for constituents
- Highlight ongoing sex and gender disparities in bone health outcomes among older adults
