Whole, Worthy and Free: Oakland

July 28, 2026

As part of the 2026 Black (in)Fertility Awareness Week (BIAW), hosts are heading to the West Coast—bringing community, conversations, and commitment to fertility justice to the Oakland area in partnership with the California Black Women’s Health Project.

Whole, Worthy, and Free is an in-person gathering centered on reclaiming joy, expanding possibilities, and affirming that everyone deserves to feel whole and worthy—no matter where they are on their fertility journey. This event invites participants into a healing space to explore all aspects of fertility and family building, from navigating infertility and reproductive health to understanding options and envisioning what’s possible.

Through open dialogue, shared experiences, and community connection, we’ll talk about the realities and complexities of fertility while also making intentional space for hope, joy, and liberation. Grounded in a reproductive justice framework, this gathering centers the voices and experiences of Black women and communities, while challenging the barriers that too often limit access, information, and care.

As BIAW continues to grow, this West Coast activation reflects our commitment to meeting communities where they are—creating spaces that inform, uplift, and affirm that every journey is valid, and every person is whole, worthy, and free.
